Broncos’ Peyton Manning Will be Tested in Week 1 Debut vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

After officially signing one of the biggest free agents in NFL history, the Denver Broncos went from a mediocre football team to a potential perennial Super Bowl title contender in the AFC Conference. With Peyton Manning now running the show under center after a short-lived Tim Tebow era in the Mile High City, the Broncos will debut a new-look in the 2012 NFL season and the four-time NFL MVP will be tested right out of the gate with a Week 1 debut against the lockdown defense of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Unlike his time with the Indianapolis Colts, Manning will be faced with some challenges with his new team. Mainly, biggest challenge for Manning will be the lack of Pro Bowl-caliber wide receivers at his disposal. While with Indianapolis, Manning had the advantage of having receivers like Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne and tight end Dallas Clark. Now in Denver, the perennial Pro Bowler might not have that luxury; especially in his first season. In Week 1, the Denver Broncos will get a great chance to see whether or not Peyton Manning is officially back to form. The one-time Super Bowl champion will have to face off against arguably the best defense in the NFL with perennial Pro Bowl safety Troy Polamalu staring him down in the Steelers’ secondary. This Week 1 matchup against the Steelers will be the perfect way to usher Manning back into the spotlight. A tough test right out of the gate is just what the veteran quarterback needs to prove to his doubters that he is still an elite player in this game and ready to lead the Broncos to greatest. Will Peyton Manning lead the Denver Broncos to the Super Bowl?

After landing the biggest free agent in NFL history, the Denver Broncos have instantly improved their chances to be a force in the AFC Conference over the next five years. With superstar quarterback Peyton Manning now in the fold for the Broncos, the AFC West division looks drastically different. Last season’s emergence of second-year quarterback Tim Tebow was a step forward, but this addition under center may be a giant leap in the right direction. It was unfortunate that the Tim Tebow mania in the Mile High City had to end the way it did. Tebow’s presence as the gunslinger for the Broncos was just what this team needed to take the next step in revitalizing this once dominant franchise. With an inspirational figure leading the way, Denver hadn’t seen that kind of success since the days of John Elway. Ironically enough, it was Elway that pursued and ultimately brought Manning to Denver. Now the team is in position to make an instant impact in a somewhat weak AFC West division. The Oakland Raiders are on the rise with the addition of quarterback Carson Palmer and some young players starting to step up, but still have a ways to go before they’re able to compete with heavyweights in the AFC Conference. The San Diego Chargers used to be the best team in the division and the favorite to win every year. Now that seems to have changed and the Broncos might be able to slide in and take over as the team to beat within the division. The real question from here on out is whether or not Manning is truly healthy and has anything left in the tank. If he does, the Super Bowl in the near future is a real possibility. If not, the Broncos will have spent a lot of money on another aging veteran gunslinger. We have an excellent selection of Broncos Tickets for every single game at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
